I’ve heard it said that doing nothing is probably the hardest thing you’ll ever do. You probably feel guilty if you do nothing. Am I right? But unless we are able to regularly disconnect from the world we will not hear God’s voice. And our souls will suffer.
Because we live in a world in ruins. Paul describes the mind caught up in the world as futile, full of things that don’t matter, darkened, and blind. And if we don’t learn to withdraw from the world to listen to God we are going to find ourselves completely caught up in the futile thinking of the world.
But if we will stop and do nothing … simply sit quietly before the Lord … the influence of the world on our hearts and minds will collapse … as the mind of Christ comes in.
