When Paul looked at the Corinthian church, he saw a group of self-centered people. They knew they needed Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, but their minds were still dominated by one thought: me.
And that is the one source of human brokenness – self-centeredness; self-will. When you bring a group of people together who are almost exclusively focused on themselves, there’s going to be quarreling and fighting and hurt feelings and broken people. That is the church.
