We read in the book of Samuel (18:1) that, “The soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David.” Sadly, as American Christians we have bought the lie society has fed us that other things are more important in life than this. A lie that says, “Jonathan would have been smarter to let his friendship with David go so he could ascend to the throne.” And so we break off friendships for the smallest of things. We put the pursuit of wealth, power, and comfort far above even the thought of pursuing deep, meaningful friendship with others.

Did you know one of the best predictors for not finishing well as a person … is isolation as a way of life? If you want to finish well, if you want to have a lasting impact on our world, if you want to really make a difference, you will do whatever it takes to develop deep, meaningful friendships in the family of God.
