Our culture, our instincts and our hearts, clamor for the preservation of our own life at all costs – over every other life – and over any good we might do. “Save yourself!” is the golden motto of our supremely selfish nature. Absent any higher purpose, it is supposed that there is no greater good beyond the perseveration of the self.

As believers, we trust Christ to save us from our sins, but do we trust Him to save us from ourselves? We all are given by God the same weapon of life; how we use it will determine our kingdom and our destiny.
